Sealing

On account of their special technical properties, materials such as PE foam, cellular rubber, or sponge rubber are primarily used for sealing purposes.

Seals prevent or limit the undesired passage of substances from one space to another. The substances in question may be gases or liquids. For gases, pressure losses have to be prevented in addition to their unintentional leakage or mixing.

Closed-cell materials such as PE foam, sponge rubber (with outer skin), or cellular rubber are particularly well suited for sealing. Their closed cellular structure prevents gaseous or liquid materials from leaking through, while their flexibility simultaneously ensures that the material adapts perfectly for an optimal seal.

The following examples are intended to provide a brief overview of our products, materials, and processing options. We are sure to find the right solution for your requirements as well. Put us to the test!

Seals made of PE foam for container construction

Pre-cuts and die-cut parts made of PE foam.

PE foam materials are characterised by their high resistance to chemicals and ageing, as well as their closed cellular structure, which ensures excellent sealing properties. They are also less expensive than sponge rubber or cellular rubber. Material types for use in the medical field are also available.

Cut to exact contours or die-cut at low cost; alternatively water jet-cut for smaller series. Also available as sheets.

Available as partially self-adhesive on one side and flame-retardant per MVSS 302 upon customer request.

Seals made of sponge rubber for mechanical engineering

Water jet-cut sponge rubber parts for use in mechanical and plant engineering.

Sponge rubber is a mixed-cell elastomer with mostly open cells and a closed outer skin. It is highly elastic, resistant to ageing, and has excellent sealing properties (if the skin is undamaged).

Water jet-cut due to the small diameter of the cut-outs. Alternatively die-cut to exact contours at low cost. Also available as sheets.

Self-adhesive on one or both sides for easier installation upon customer request.

Seals made of cellular rubber for the automotive industry

Die-cut parts made of cellular rubber for use in the vehicle industry.

Cellular rubber is a closed-cell elastomer with no outer skin. Unlike sponge rubber, it can be used as a seal even without a skin because of its cellular structure. It is characterised by high elasticity and resistance to ageing, as well as excellent sealing properties.

Die-cut to exact contours; alternatively water jet-cut for smaller series or special requirements. Also available as sheets.

Self-adhesive on one or both sides for easier installation upon customer request.
